Illumina VR is an interactive virtual reality experience that invites audiences to explore the rich history, science, and cultural legacy of stained glass. Designed as both an educational tool and a sensory journey, the experience reimagines centuries of stained glass craftsmanship through immersive storytelling and digital interactivity.
As Creative Director and Lead Designer, I conceptualized and developed the experience from the ground up, blending historical inspiration with virtual creativity. My work was deeply influenced by my admiration for stained glass artists such as Joan Vila-Grau, who continued Gaudí’s legacy through color, light, and spirituality. Illumina VR carries forward this tradition, offering visitors a space where art, science, and emotion converge.
I designed and built all environments and interactive elements in Unreal Engine 5, and implemented core gameplay functionality to support a seamless and engaging user experience.
The project was showcased at the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum in June 2025 as part of a public event that welcomed families, artists, and community members. Attendees explored Illumina VR in a dedicated exhibition space, experiencing the blend of traditional stained glass narratives with cutting-edge immersive technology. The event served as both a public unveiling and a celebration of the creative and cultural significance behind the work.
